“Keeping it real…… I am an 80 year old retiree. The last home I owned was in 2006, 16 years ago. Meeting Ruth Crumpton and Jennifer Lee from Campus to Coast Realty changed my thinking forever about home buying. I had been paying rent for 16 years in Texas and California and after an enlightening conversation with Ruth Crumpton I realized I had paid over $288,000.00 in rent. I was a Texas resident and homes in Texas are not affordable for the average person. Ruth assured me that finding a home in Port Orange, Florida was still affordable. The problem was finding a suitable place within my budget. The home I found was already under contract and I had missed it by one day. Jennifer Lee suggested I do a back up contract. I was skeptical and disappointed that this one had slipped through my fingers. Reluctantly, I submitted the back up offer. Thirteen days later the original offer fell through and I was on my way to home ownership. Ruth and Jennifer worked me through the financial struggle of securing a mortgage. Yes, at 80 you can still obtain a mortgage. Next step was an appraisal. The offer I made was $19,000.00 over the appraised value. So back to the negotiating table. The sellers lowered the price by $19,000.00 to meet the appraised value. I had just saved a large amount of money! An appraisal can be a good thing. Six weeks later I am a homeowner. My advice is to listen to the professionals at Campus To Coast Realty. Communicate your goals to them and let them work for you. I am sincerely grateful that I am now paying for my own home and saving money every month.
